How Did I Get Here?

I ask myself that same question on a regular basis! A quarter-century ago (a phrase I’d never thought I’d write), my fascination with the relationship between bone and lean mass began to grow during my time as the Clinical Director of the Bone Density and Body Composition Center. My work there, coupled with my experience as an EMT and Certified Bone Densitometrist, provided a launch pad into the entrepreneurial phase of my career.

So, why did I end up leaving the traditional hospital setting and co-found DexaFit? Enter, Tim Ferriss! A chance encounter in 2008–2009, while Tim was deep in research mode for "The 4-Hour Body," The New York Times Best Seller, sparked in me an avid interest in biohacking. I not only became a biohacking enthusiast, but a full-fledged Tim Ferriss fangirl! Inspired by Tim's passion of understanding the body and biohacking, I decided to introduce medical-grade DXA body composition testing to the consumer market. This shift took a technology previously confined to hospitals and made it accessible and affordable to all.

With the DexaFit technology, we’ve been able to simplify what can often be a perplexing journey, transforming it into a clear and actionable path towards health optimization. All with a simple body scan that will show you where you are, and where you need to go. It’s a running joke in the office that I have an odd "superpower" that gives me the ability to predict a person's bone density and health needs just by looking at them. I guess that comes with 25 years in the game.

My DexaFit journey wouldn’t be the same without the mentors in my life, my amazing coworkers and the hard ass work ethic that I learned from my Italian Noni who ran a bakery and a family of six kids (more on her later). Tim has inspired me to think innovatively and look beyond conventional wisdom. Technology has reshaped my vision of what's achievable… and preventable. And, we’re just getting started!

Stay tuned as I continue to share my insights, experiences and the transformational stories of my clients. Together, we can navigate the confusing maze of health and longevity, grounded with data and technology.
